Welcome to Firswood Scouts
We are based in the Stretford District of South Manchester and offer scouting for local boys and girls from the age of 5¾ to 14. Our area stretches from Longford Park to Old Trafford to Whalley Range however we are open to enquiries from other areas.
Scouting gives young people opportunities to take part in a wide variety of fun and exciting activities and is a great way for them to make friends.
What is Scouting
As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more. Each week, we give young people the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed.
Young people in the Scouts take part in an exciting programme of activities from kayaking to coding. They develop character skills like resilience, initiative and tenacity; employability skills such as leadership, teamwork and problem solving; and practical skills like cooking and first aid. And research proves it really works. A 2018 report says Scouts are 17% more likely to show leadership skills and work well in teams. They’re a third more likely to support their communities too.

Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. Sometimes you will be able to go camping with the rest of your Pack. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.
